We’ve been at the Cascades for more than 10 months and are delighted with our new home.  We down-sized to come here—a wise decision that has simplified our lives and made it easy to be energy efficient. Management is helpful and responsive, which is especially appreciated when moving in and trying to get settled.

We love the view from our river-side unit, but we also like to pop down to the riverwalk and the nature trail. We walk or take public transportation nearly everywhere we want to go and often use the fitness room.  We’re stair climbers, but it’s helpful to have the elevator whenever we need it. We also enjoy the mix of ages and interests of the residents. The Cascades is, indeed, a great place to live!

I have lived in my new condo at Cascades for almost three months, however, my journey actually began two years ago.  It was then that I read about a new development on the Winooski River Falls, one that held the promise of a small, walk-about and sustainable urban community --encompassing the best in diversity and easy living.  The developers had not broken ground, yet I already knew it was destined to be my next home.  I felt like part of the “sales team” by the time I actually did move in, having toured the building in my hard hat so often throughout the entire building process.

As a retired long-term educator, I wanted to simplify life, down-size my space and be part of an exciting community, one close to the university and downtown Burlington area.  Since I am also a member of Dragonheart Vermont, paddling those red dragon boats on the Burlington waterfront, as well as a member of nearby faith and arts communities, moving to this area made everything more accessible.

All the fine folks associated with Cascades have made my relocation a pleasant one.  They are people of strong integrity and commitment.  From the luxury granite counter tops and all the energy-efficient features to the beautiful waterfront courtyard . . . no promise was left unfulfilled.  Now to master those bus routes and the state-of-the art exercise equipment!

As we approached downsizing, we visited attractive possibilities in the surrounding area, but we always returned to the lure of Cascades with its healing setting next to the river, its convenient location with bus service to Burlington and its positive support of a healthy lifestyle with opportunities to walk outdoors and to exercise indoors.  The underground parking, elevator access and community outdoor space complete with fire pit and cascading river view offer invaluable perks.  The ambiance inspires Ben’s artwork and adds pleasure to correcting papers for me.  Taking a break to walk the riverfront, visit the Mill exhibits or grab a snack at a restaurant within walking distance makes work fun for us.  And, the ability to reserve the Club Room for family celebrations is the crowning jewel for us.  We have no regrets that we took the risk and moved into a smaller unit while we are in the downsizing process and have been embracing the healthy and beautiful vistas Cascades has brought to our lives.   Lastly, the kind and competent management team bring sanity and common sense to the Cascades’ diverse population.  We look forward to getting to know the Cascades community better and appreciate the diversity in ages and interests.
